Although there weren't any kids or lakes around, this is exactly how I have felt lately. I have only driven like ten times, but it is so much harder than it looks! I have driven around my neighborhood, and just recently I drove home from the grocery store. I seriously never realized how many things you have to do while you're driving. If you are not a good multitasker, you're going to have some issues when you drive.
Driving is honestly pretty hard. And i never realized that even when your foot is not on the gas pedal, you still move. And even if you only press slightly on the break, you come to a halting stop.
My Dad and Mom are basically teaching me, but my Dad has taken me driving more times than my Mom. Whenever I am driving down our neighborhood street with my Dad, and there aren't any cars around, he tells me to hug the middle so that I don't drive on the curbs. Well I got used to driving closer to the middle because its what he taught me. But then when there are cars coming down the road on the opposite side, he panics and yells at me because I'm in the middle of the road. It's like, you can't teach me to drive down the middle of the road and then get mad at me when I do it! And I never know where exactly I am supposed to put my hands, so I'm always asking my Dad, "Is this ten and two? Is this where my hands are supposed to be?" And he's just like yeah Sam, sure that's fine. And it's like, is it right or not?! Driving is honestly nerve wrecking, because you don't want to run into anything or wreck the car, or run over any birds or other animals. I don't even know what I would do if I ran over an animal. I would feel so bad. I think I would feel like I needed to pull over, and like burry it or something, I don't know. I would just feel terrible.
I never realized how hard controlling a vehicle is. You see people all the time doing their makeup, or texting, or eating while they are driving, and I could barley talk and drive, let alone try and do my makeup at the same time. Driving is going to take alot of practice, and a lot of getting used to. Especially when I start driving farther than the grocery store on the main roads. But I think with a little help from parents and lots and lots of practice, I'll be a pro in no time.
